Should I exercise my ankle with a tib/fib break?
I had a tib/fib break 3 months ago. The spiral fracture in the tibia is really terrible, and the fibula has just one break. I had a rod inserted through the tibia, two screws in the ankle, and a screw below the knee. I was put in an air cast right away and am now on one crutch and still in my air cast. I can sleep without the cast and was just wondering if anyone knows if I can/should be exercising my ankle (working on rotating in and whatnot). My bones aren't healing very well, but the pain is almost gone except when I use the leg a lot. My doctor hasn't mentioned physical therapy at all, and I really can't move my ankle much at all. I'm just afraid that moving my ankle will prevent my leg bones from healing or damage is somehow something. So my only question is should I be exercising my ankle or not? Please no guesses. I only want legitimate answers, please. This is very important to me.
