You may be thinking of the New Zealand movie "Heavenly Creatures." The girl isn't locked in, but she does sleep in a small structure that's almost like a habitable shed with windows, etc. She sneaked off once or twice to have with a boy who had been boarding with them and was kicked out after getting caught with her.
