What are some good flowers that will last into the fall?

I have a small flowerbed around my mailbox. I have petunia's in it right now, but they are already loosing their perkiness and most of the buds have fallen off. I want to replant it with flowers that will stay bloomed until fall. I was thinking maybe marigolds, but I'm not sure how long they last. Any suggestions on flowers?
