How to get there from L.A.?Catalina Island?

There is a special ferry out of Long Beach that goes there every day. Call in advance to find out times and departures. Once on the island there are many places that rent diving equipment and boats for those who want to dive off shore. Snorkeling around the island is great, but remember to always dive with a buddy. Be safe and have fun. Better yet, why don't you join a dive club and experience many cool places and friends with the same interests.
